Another milestone....

This picture has nothing to do with anything. I just love Mike Rowe and Dirty Jobs...found on the Dicovery Channel and various Ford commercials. You like to hear the word "poo" a lot? This is your show.

Tonight, my oldest child has been at her very first Brownie scout campout. Because I am still the main food sourve for the baby, I was unable to attend. My weary, but sainted, husband volunteered to go with her. Though my time in scouts ended too soon, I have mostly fond memories of my times with them. I got in my first, and only, fist fight with a sister scout during a heated game of Capture the Flag. She was a bit of a weirdo then, and continues to be one to this day. That aside, I cherish the times I did have, even the hell that was Camp Sky-Wa-Mo. The camp where girls made themselves sick so they could leave. Where my friend Kristen and I cried ourselves to sleep, sharing the same bed because we thought we'd be safe from the snakes that way. Thankfully, the tear-stained letter my mom received must have been convincing enough....she never made me go back. It is with these memories in hand, the I get a bit misty thinking about my own child. It is hard to believe that she is old enough to be a scout. To make the promise to live by the Girl Scout Law. I will have a hard time sleeping tonight, eager to hear of her first camp out experience as she comes home smelling of campfire and a faint hint of s'more. Sniff....

Another milestone in the life.......

My beautiful baby boy ate his first bowl of rice cereal this evening. His total source of food, until today, has been me. Though I am proud of the accomplishment and growth, it is a bittersweet time for me. Since he is my last, I feel I must savor, with even more gusto, every ounce of time he still wants to be in my arms or my presence. Who knew one could find such satisfaction in little things like smelling his little head....or such heartbreak in watching him eat from a spoon for the first time. But, oh what a sweet little heartbreaker he is.....
